Virtual Choir Video Info
Updated: Dec 9, 2020

Hello everyone! We're so excited to be able to put on this Virtual Choir Video with our students and alumni. All the information you need can be found on this page. Carol of the Bells Learning Aids (learning tracks, sheet music, and conducting video) can be found on the previous Student Resource Page (where you found this blog post). Once you're prepared, you can submit your video using our Virtual Choir Submission Jotform. Detailed instructions on how the process works can be found below. We strongly encourage you to review them before making/preparing your video.
Looking forward to singing with you all again! Videos must be submitted by Monday, December 14 at 11:59 PM. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us. Our emails can be found on the Contact Page of the Milton Chorus Website.
Best,
Mr. Bowers and Mr. Schreer
Virtual Choir Video Instructions
There are very specific instructions that must be followed in order to create a successful Virtual Choir video. Please read the instructions below carefully in order to make sure your video is made correctly. Note: Responsibility for checking your video falls on you! Videos submitted incorrectly may not be included in the final product.
Record your video in a quiet, well-lit space. Avoid being around anything that makes background noise (air conditioner, fan, etc.) or would cause audio interruptions (busy hallways, common areas, etc.).
Set up your recording device. A phone is perfectly fine, just don't hold it in your hand. All recordings should be made in landscape mode (example HERE) and should have your face clearly visible (example HERE).
Your attire should be all black. No other colors should be visible.
Get the Conducting Video and a pair of headphones ready. This may require a second device. A computer can record you AND play music at the same time, but your phone may not. A simple solution would be to borrow your parent's phone. Regardless, we should NOT be able to hear the track on your recording.
Watch the Conducting Video and follow the instructions. A written version of those instructions can be found below. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Bowers or Mr. Schreer.
Conducting Video Instructions
Start the video and watch the instructions.
When indicated, start the recording with your headphones unplugged so that the sound of the conducting video can be heard on the recording
A loud beep will play. Make sure it is heard on the recording. This will help our AV Tech sync up all the recordings properly. Do NOT pause the recording OR the conducting video after the beep, you must keep going!
Plugin your headphones so that only you can hear the conducting video and the recording is capturing only your voice.
Wait for the countdown. (After which the conductor will appear)
Wait for the conductor's cue.
Begin singing.
